Cairo, 6 March 2018 - The International Organization for Migration (IOM Egypt) hosted the launching workshop marking the inception of the regional initiative “Fostering health and protection to vulnerable migrants transiting through Morocco, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen”.

The first phase was implemented from May 2015 to January 2018, and focused on humanitarian and medical assistance to migrants, and the development of sustainable strategies on health and preventive care programmes destined to migrants.
This initiative supports the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 3: “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages » and Goal 10.7: «facilitate orderly, safe, and responsible migration and mobility of people, including through implementation of planned and well-managed migration policies » This project is funded by the Finland’s development cooperation.
