Training of Trainers (ToT) for Media Professionals on the crimes of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in close cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIMTIP) held a training course for media professionals on strengthening Egypt’s efforts to combat trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants as well as to build their skills and capacities focusing on the Media and Communications angle in order to prepare ethical and credible news and repots on both crimes.
The training was delivered to media professionals from diverse Egyptian media. The ToT would serve a wider range of public awareness on these topics while ensuring proper communication and coverage of crimes of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants.
This training was organized within the framework of the Regional Development and Protection Program (RDPP) funded by the European Union. The training contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 10 “Reduced Inequalities”, Goal 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” and Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”. The training also aligns with the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), Objective 10 “Prevent, combat and eradicate trafficking in persons in the context of international migration” and Objective 7 “Address and reduce vulnerabilities in migration”.
