Alexandria, 22 December 2018 - To honor the over 1 billion migrants around the world, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) held a community event to mark the International Migrants Day 2018 and celebrate the contributions of migrants to their host communities and communities of origin. This day was also an occasion to remember and commemorate the migrants who lost their lives on their journey in search of a better life.

Organized in collaboration with PLAN International and Caritas, the event was attended by guests from South Sudan, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, as well as by Egyptians and many more nationalities.

The event promotes social cohesion among different communities in Egypt and environmental awareness. The event featured live music, dance performances from migrants, and a bazar with Sudanese products.
