IOM Hosts a Baby Shower for More Than Forty Recent Mothers and Mothers-To-Be from the Migrant Community

Cairo, 13 December 2018 – IOM Egypt hosted a baby shower for more than forty recent mothers and mothers-to-be from the migrant community. The event was organized by IOM Egypt’s Migrant Assistance and Protection Services team to address the needs of a growing number of pregnant beneficiaries approaching IOM.

The baby shower was an opportunity to celebrate and inform, as the mothers participated in games, received giveaways, and an informational health session was provided by IOM Egypt’s Migrant Health Division on lactation and post-natal health. The event supports the many expecting mothers and babies receiving IOM assistance this winter, with each participant receiving a baby box filled with newborn essentials, including winter clothes for infants, blankets, and post-natal health materials for mother and child.

This event was funded by the government of Germany.

The initiative works towards the Sustainable Development Goal 3: to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.
