IOM Egypt Organized a Joint Webinar with IOM Italy on Skills Based Mobility Partnerships in the Mediterranean Area

Cairo, 23 September - IOM Egypt jointly organized a webinar on Skills Based Mobility Partnerships in the Mediterranean Area in collaboration with IOM Italy (Rome). The two-hour webinar brought together representatives from both Egypt and Italy. Attendees from Egypt included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Higher Education, Federation of Egyptian Industries, Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development, as well as multiple private sector counterparts, and from Italy, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, National Agency for Employment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Representatives of Italian Regions, Representatives of Italian municipalities, and Italian hosting companies.

The webinar aimed at bringing together potential partners from both countries for the purpose of discussing internship opportunities for foreigners in Italy, in addition to giving a high-level overview of IOM’s work within the framework of Skills Mobility Partnerships and of the tool of international internships for skills development to enhance youth employability, with a specific focus on the tool of internships for foreigners in Italy and on Y-MED project.

This initiative comes in line with the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) objective 5: ‘Enhance availability and flexibility of pathways for regular migration’, objective18: ‘Invest in skills development and facilitate mutual recognition of skills, qualifications and competences’, and objective 23: ‘Strengthen international cooperation and global partnerships for safe, orderly and regular migration’ on labour mobility.
