IOM Egypt launches first Environmental Art Day for Children

Cairo, 1 November 2018 –  IOM Egypt launched its very first Environmental Art Day for children. This event was organized by IOM’s Environmental Working Group (EWG) and the Staff Association Committee (SAC)  for Syrian children and their mothers to come to IOM Egypt’s office and share an afternoon of art and fun with IOM staff.

The vision behind the  activities is to promote spaces where children and parents can interact and engage in a creative way, while providing a platform to touch upon environmental issues. Most children and staff chose to create paintings that incorporated environmental themes, such as butterflies, rivers, and pyramids. A few children and IOM Staff enthusiastically had their faces painted with hearts and nature symbols. The afternoon’s activities concluded with a dance session for children.

The event would not have been made possible without the efforts of Watan Organisation.

The initiative also works towards the Sustainable Development Goals, especially ‘Goal 3’: to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.
