IOM Egypt Facilitates Participation of an Egyptian Official to the Labour Migration Academy
Cairo, 15 July 2017 - IOM facilitated the participation at a two-week training to the Academy on Labour Migration (LMA) in Turin, Italy, for an official of the Egyptian Central Administration for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The objective of the LMA is to provide advanced knowledge and enhance the capacity of key migration actors for an improved understanding of labour migration challenges and opportunities in a changing political, economic and social context.
The LMA training covers a wide range of cross-cutting labour migration themes, such as enhancing protection, promoting sustainable development and facilitating fair and effective labour migration governance.
“This training enhanced my knowledge on the methodology used to develop effective and constructive policies in the field of labor migration” said the LMA participant, Ms. Mona Hassan, Senior Specialist of Technical Affairs at CAPMAS.
IOM is currently working on a report with CAPMAS’ Migration Unit to forecast labour market needs in Egypt and Europe in order to identify opportunities for the labour mobility of Egyptians. The knowledge gained by the participant from this training will enrich the quality of the labour market needs report and the policy recommendations section. This will support the Government of Egypt with the suggested next steps towards a labour migration agenda specifically and human mobility more generally.
