IOM Egypt Facilitates the Capacity Building of the Primary Healthcare Sector in Giza Governorate Through Trainings of Healthcare Workers and the Donation of Medications and other Supplies to Primary Healthcare Units.
Giza, 27 July – IOM Egypt supported the primary healthcare sector in Giza Governorate in coordination with the Giza deputy Governor, Dr. Hend Abdelhalim, who communicated the needs of the Giza health directorate to IOM, in terms of the medications needed and recommended a list of healthcare workers to participate in the capacity building trainings. The donations included more than 8,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits; surgical masks and latex gloves, in addition to more than 22,000 strips and medications.
The healthcare worker’s training was organized over four days, on Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Forty healthcare workers in Cairo have participated in these trainings, where they became certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support providers by the American Heart Association upon completion. Through these training sessions, all infection prevention and control measures were considered, where the participants used personal protective equipment and followed social distancing instructions to ensure the safety of all participants.
