Giza, 31 March 2019 - IOM celebrated the Giza Governorate National Day Centenary by donating medical equipment to the emergency department and intensive care units at Al Haram Hospital. The equipment will be used to enhance the hospital’s capacity and ensure broader access to health care services. Through this donation, both migrants and Egyptian patients will have improved access to emergency life-saving interventions.

“This is one of the partnerships that IOM would like to establish with the Governorate to support the public health policies of the Egyptian Government. It’s a symbol of our cooperation and the visionary approach of Giza Governorate towards hospitality and diversity among residents. It is a pleasure to contribute to a hospital saving lives of hundreds of thousands of Egyptians and migrants, to make sure that no one is left behind”, said Mr. Laurent De Boeck, IOM Egypt’s Chief of Mission.

The initiative is in line with the Government of Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy: Vision 2030 for Economic and Human Development and it also works towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 3: to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.
