IOM Egypt and the Office of the Prosecutor General Organizes Two Training Workshops for Public Prosecutors

Cairo, 11 November 2019 - IOM Egypt and the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG), in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM & TIP), organized two training workshops for public prosecutors during 11- 13 November 2019 and 17 – 19 November respectively. The workshops focused on enhancing capacities of forty public prosecutors from different governorates of Egypt, on Investigating and Prosecuting the crimes of Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Persons.

The workshops were organized at the Institute of Criminal Research and Training in Cairo as part of the longstanding cooperation between IOM and the OPG. 

The training sessions focused on relevant national and international legal frameworks; financial investigations, discussions on practical case studies and best practices from national and international contexts, victim and witness protection safeguards.

The workshops were organized under the Africa Regional Migration Program funded by the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration.
