IOM Egypt and ECSS Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Migration and Development Policy Research and Dialogue Frameworks in Egypt
10 October 2022, Cairo - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and The Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS) have signed an agreement to strengthen research cooperation and efforts towards better analysis and development of policy-oriented research on the interlink between migration, development, and peace on a national, regional, and international levels.
Under the framework of the cooperation agreement, Both IOM and ECSS decide to act jointly on policy research design and implementation which shall help inform the improvement of policy practices and processes related to mainstreaming migration into development policies and strategies. In addition, IOM and ECSS will work together to raise and enhance policy dialogue and community awareness about migration issues through research. Through a joint action plan and collective initiatives, both organizations intend to develop and present knowledge papers and facilitate policy dialogue events to be shared and with relevant policy- and decision-makers.
Both Mr. Laurent De Boeck, Chief of Mission of IOM in The Arabic Republic of Egypt, and Dr. Khaled Okasha, ECSS General Manager, expressed and confirmed that such an agreement will give the opportunity for collective action and to strive to reinforce synergies on research across the humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding domains.
