IOM and Partners Mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Cairo, 30 July 2019 – In celebration of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Egypt, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) and the National Coordinating Committee for Combatting and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) organized a reception at the premises of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. More than 100 members of the Egyptian and foreign governments, United Nations agencies and media professionals were in attendance.

IOM and Partners Conduct a Training for Judges on Counter-trafficking and Smuggling

Alexandria, 25 June – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt, in coordination with the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and the National Centre for Judicial Studies (NCJS) of the Ministry of Justice, organized a capacity-building training for 25 judges on counter-trafficking and smuggling.

IOM Holds a Training Workshop for Egyptian Media Personnel on Reporting on Trafficking in Persons

Cairo, 24 June – The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in coordination with the Government of Egypt’s National Coordinating Committee for Combatting and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TiP), conducted a two-day training in Cairo for media personnel on journalism and reporting on trafficking in persons, co-organized and hosted by the Administrative Control Authority of Egypt. The two-day training intends to improve the knowledge of media professionals on the thematic issues and ethical considerations for reporting on trafficking.

Cairo, 14 May 2019 – The National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt are launching the first phase of a wide-scale national awareness raising campaign on the dangers of human trafficking. This phase comprises six animation videos that depict how traffickers target and exploit victims.

IOM Holds Training for Judges on Countering Trafficking and Smuggling in Ismailia

Cairo, 21 March 2019 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in partnership with the National Centre for Judicial Studies of the Ministry of Justice of Egypt and the National Coordinating Committee on Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM & TIP), completed a series of eight trainings for judges on countering the crimes of trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants since 2017. The most recent training was held in Ismailia from 19 to 21 March for 24 judges who serve in the Northern region of Egypt.

IOM and LaLiga Sign a Partnership to Tackle Discrimination and Trafficking in Sports

Cairo, 21 March 2019 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) signed a partnership with LaLiga, the Spanish top tier football league, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports. The ceremony for the signing was held at the Fairmont Hotel and was attended by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Amr El Hadad, by IOM Egypt’s Chief of Mission, Mr. Laurent De Boeck, by LaLiga’s Official Delegate in Egypt, Mr. Juan Fuentes Fernandez, and many distinguished guests from the diplomatic community and the private sector.

IOM and Partners Conduct Trainings on Counter Trafficking in Persons for Egyptian Prosecutors

Cairo, 2 March 2019 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and its partners, the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) and the National Coordinating Committee on Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM & TIP), have completed the second and third round of the series of trainings titled “Strengthening the Capacities of Prosecutors in Counter Trafficking in Persons”, on 16-17 February and 2-3 March 2019 in Cairo and Ismailia.
