3 August 2019, Cairo – The International Organization for Migration in Egypt celebrated the World Day against Trafficking in Persons with a community event attended by more than 1,000 Egyptians and nationals from the Beninese, Eritrean, Ethiopian, Filipino, Iraqi, Kenyan, Liberian, Nigerian, Syrian, Somali, Sudanese, South Sudanese and Yemeni communities. Fellow UN agencies UNAIDS and the UN Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) participated with booths, giveaways, and informational materials on protection services and awareness-raising messages on trafficking in persons.
Cairo, 23 May 2019 – The International Organization for Migration in Egypt (IOM) organized an iftar that brought together leaders of migrant communities in Cairo on 23 May 2019. The iftar was attended by 65 people, including 15 community leaders from Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Guinea, Gambia, Eritrea, Yemen, and their families.
Alexandria, 21 May 2019 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Save the Children International in Egypt hosted a community iftar for migrants in Alexandria and the North Coast. The iftar was attended by 150 participants from the Egyptian, Iraqi, Sudanese, South Sudanese, Syrian and Yemeni communities.
Cairo –Representatives from the Embassy of Japan in the Arab Republic of Egypt and International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, visited Watan for Culture and Social Development, an NGO operating principally in 6th of October area of Cairo.
IOM partnered with Watan during the implementation of past interventions to improve access to quality education and health for Syrian refugees and host communities in 6th of October.
Cairo, 19 January – To promote community cohesion among migrants and the Egyptian communities hosting them, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) partnered with Egyptian Startup Bassita, UNAOC Innovation Award 2nd place winner Safarni, Drosos, and the French Institute in Egypt to launch a Clickfunding Campaign on 19 January, 2018.
Cairo, 16 December – To honour the over 1 billion migrants around the world, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) held a community event on Saturday to mark the International Migrants Day 2017.
Cairo, 07-09 November – IOM organized two community cohesion days, with the participation of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Tadamon, to respond to the immediate health and nutrition needs of both migrant and Egyptian communities.
Cairo, 27 October – IOM joined the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the UNHCR, UNICEF and the World Food Program (WFP) to mark the occasion of World Food Day 2017 with a RUN organized by the renowned group Cairo Runners, on October 27.
Cairo, 28 September 2017- IOM held an information session for civil society and private sector agencies on a call for proposals to support the implementation of small-scale projects for improving access to services and livelihood opportunities and community cohesion.
Cairo, 17 September 2017 - IOM, the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) and the National Coordinating Committee on Combatting and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) launched a community outreach initiative.
