60 Egyptian Prosecutors Received IOM Training on Countering Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants

 The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt, together with the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) and the National Coordinating Committee on Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM & TIP), have completed trainings on counter trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants in Cairo and Alexandria. The trainings were attended by 60 Egyptian Prosecutors.

IOM Egypt Organizes Training of Trainers for Forensic Medical Authority Experts on Passport Examination

Alexandria, 24 June 2021 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt, continues its support to the Forensic Medicine Authority (FMA) through organizing a six-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on passport examination procedures for 19 Forensic Experts, including five female experts, from nine various governorates.

IOM Egypt with AfriCairo Collective Release Three Inspiring Songs Performed by Migrants and Egyptian Artists on Empowering Migrant Communities

Cairo, June 20, 2021 – Funded by the Embassy of Japan in Egypt, the Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt , in collaboration with ‘AfriCairo Collective’, has launched three songs as part of a campaign called “Music Brings Us Together’. The songs - ‘Zemay’, ‘Sorry my Little Girl’, and ‘Adaye’ have been performed by a group of migrant and Egyptian artists with unique genre of music and special African taste.

IOM Egypt with the European Union Delegation Inaugurate the Latest Addition of Watan Medical Centre Serving Egyptians and Migrants

 

Cairo, 20 June 2021- The International Organization for Migration in Egypt (IOM) and the European Union Delegation to Egypt represented by Mr Laurent de Boeck, IOM Chief of Mission to Egypt and Ms Graziella Rizza, Head of Governance Section of the EU Delegation to Egypt, respectively, have inaugurated the soft opening of the latest addition to the Watan Medical Centre in the Sixth of October area, serving Egyptians and migrants.

IOM Egypt Addresses Child Labour through Organizing an Awareness Raising Event for Migrant Families

Cairo, 12 June 2021 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt has marked the World Day Against Child Labour by organizing a community event for more than 40 families from different migrant communities in Cairo, including 87 children. The event aimed at raising awareness on the rights of the child while discussing possible means on preventing exploitation, ensuring our environmental sustainability, and advocating for the importance of mental health and well-being for both parents and children.

The adoption of the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) has heightened the need for reliable, timely and internationally comparable definitions and data on migration trends, flows, policies, and their contribution to development.
