IOM is implementing the project “Preventing and Responding to Irregular Migration in Egypt (PRIME)”. In recognition of IOM’s considerable experience within the field both in Egypt and globally, the project’s overall objective is to consolidate integrated and multidisciplinary government responses to irregular migration under a risk-based approach in light of the substantial flows of irregular migrants to and through Egypt, as well as towards Europe. In order to achieve its objective, the project is framed around outcomes and activities, which respond to identified priorities under NCCPIM’s two-year Action Plan under the ‘National Strategy on Combating Illegal Migration” for 2016-2026 and are aimed at supporting the stakeholders in developing policies and enhancing their capacities to manage irregular migration and counter migrant smuggling as well as in conducting outreach and engaging community at risk of irregular migration in positive alternatives. The main counterpart of these project components is the National Coordinating
Committee on Preventing and Combatting Illegal Migration (NCCPIM) which is comprised of various ministries and governmental institutions that work in the field of combating irregular migration.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Cairo and the direct supervision of the of the Head of Migrant Assistance Division (MAD) Programme and the National Page 2 / 4
Programme Officer, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive and specialized support and will be tasked with planning, implementing and monitoring IOM's irregular migration programming in Egypt, including those interventions to be carried out under the project “Preventing and Responding to Irregular Migration in Egypt (PRIME)”.
In addition, the selected candidate will be also required to identify challenges and provide technical support to enhance the MAD’s counter human trafficking and irregular migration interventions, while supporting the Mission's portfolio related to the Migrant Assistance Division in order to enhance the streamlining of all programmatic activities within the Division.
