  • IOM Egypt Delivers Counter-trafficking Trainings to Civil Society Organizations

    IOM Egypt, in cooperation with the National Coordination Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM & TIP), organized two trainings titled “Countering Trafficking in Persons and Providing Protection for Victims in Egypt” for 41 representatives from 32 civil society organizations operating in 12 governorates on 26 – 27 July and 31 July – 1 August 2017.

  • IOM Egypt Marks World Day against Trafficking in Persons

    Cairo, 31 July 2017 - The UN Migration Agency (IOM) organized two events to mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons on 30 July 2017.

    In collaboration with the National Coordination Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP), IOM hosted a reception to mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons at the premises of the State Information Services. The event was attended by officials representing the United Kingdom Embassy in Egypt, and USAID among others.

  • IOM Egypt Facilitates Participation of an Egyptian Official to the Labour Migration Academy

    Cairo, 15 July 2017 - IOM facilitated the participation at a two-week training to the Academy on Labour Migration (LMA) in Turin, Italy, for an official of the Egyptian Central Administration for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The objective of the LMA is to provide advanced knowledge and enhance the capacity of key migration actors for an improved understanding of labour migration challenges and opportunities in a changing political, economic and social context.

  • UN Migration Agency Launches New Assisted Voluntary Return, Reintegration Map in Egypt

    Cairo, 4 July 2017 - The UN Migration Agency (IOM) in Egypt launched its revamped Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) Map ( on 4 July to provide policymakers, development partners, civil society, private sector, academia and the donor community with updated information on stranded Egyptian migrants who opted to return home voluntarily and non-Egyptian migrants wishing to voluntarily return to their home countries.

    Cairo, 27 June 2017 – This week, the UN Migration Agency (IOM) in Egypt launched “Aware Migrants”, a multicultural information sharing campaign focusing on migration and awareness raising. The campaign is supported by the Egyptian National Coordinating Committee on Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and funded by the Italian Ministry of Interior.

    Cairo, 18 June 2017 - IOM Egypt co-sponsored he United Nations Global Compact Network in Egypt (UNGCNE)’s annual Ramadan Iftar that took place on 15 June and was attended by 95 guests representing Egyptian businesses and development organizations.

    The event brought together several UN and major private sector players in Egypt committed to the universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

    Al-Behira, 14 June 2017 – The UN Migration Agency in Egypt held a bilateral meeting with the Governor of Al Beheira, Ms. Nadia Abdou on 14 June 2017 to introduce IOM mission in Egypt and discuss future cooperation.

    The meeting focused on how IOM Egypt can support the Governor in addressing irregular migration and trafficking in persons in Al Beheira Governorate, given that its central location with many exit points.
