  • Egypt Workshop Focuses on Harnessing Migration for Development

    Cairo, 21 February 2017 - The Egyptian Ministry for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs and IOM have hosted Egypt’s first international partners’ round table on harnessing the development impact of migration.

    The event, in Cairo, was chaired by Immigration Minister Nabila Makram Abdel Shahid and attendees included representatives of over 20 embassies and development agencies.

  • Egypt Launches New Counter Migrant Smuggling Project

    Cairo, 9 February 2016 - The Government of Egypt last week (09/02) launched the project Preventing and Responding to Irregular Migration in Egypt (PRIME) supported by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office in cooperation with IOM. PRIME responds to the Government of Egypt’s priorities in implementing its National Strategy on Combating Illegal Migration for 2016-2026 to address irregular migration in a comprehensive manner.

  • IOM Egypt Backs Syria Al Ghad Foundation Medical Center for Refugees, Host Communities

    Cairo, 31 January 2017 - IOM Egypt has helped the Syria Al Ghad community-based foundation to renovate and expand a medical centre which provides free and low-cost medical services for Syrian refugees and host communities. The centre has been fully operational since a few weeks.

  • IOM contributes to the Joint United Nations Efforts to Support the HIV National Response in Egypt

    Cairo, 1 December 2016 - To mark the World AIDS Day on December 1st, IOM contributed to The United Nations Joint Team on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) launch event of the National AIDS Advocacy Campaign in Egypt.

    The launch event took place on December 1st in Bibliotheca Alexandrina under the auspices of H.E. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Emad El din, Minister of Health and Population and included key civil society actors, representatives of youth led organizations and academia.

  • IOM Egypt, CAPMAS Train Government Officials on Labour Market Forecasting

    Cairo, 30 November 2016 - IOM has launched the first in a series of trainings for Egypt’s Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on migration data collection and analysis. The programme aims to enhance the government’s capacity to develop evidence-based policies on migration.

    Participants included 15 representatives from CAPMAS, the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs.
