Mr Andrea Dabizzi
Before joining the IOM Mission in Egypt as Head of Programme (Migrant Assistant Division), Mr Andrea Dabizzi worked for the IOM Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina as Manager of a regional project on counter human trafficking and migrant smuggling (2013-2015), for OSCE in Bosnia and Herzegovina as an Adviser on economic and social rights (2011-2013) and as a Human Rights Officer (in various field locations between 2006 and 2011), for UNHCR in Geneva in 2003, and in Montenegro as an Associate Protection Officer (2005-2006).
Initially, Mr Dabizzi had also worked as a junior lawyer on civil and criminal cases in a law firm in his hometown Prato (Italy).
Mr Dabizzi graduated from the Law School of the University of Florence (Italy) and completed a post-graduate Master of Arts in Human Rights and Conflict Management at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa (Italy). He has written various publications in the area of migration and asylum, human rights and protection; and is an individual member of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Network (based in New York, USA) and a member of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (based in Sanremo, Italy).
Mr Dabizzi is an Italian national; he is fluent in Italian, English and Spanish, and has good command of French and Serbo-Croatian. He performed as first oboist in the Leopolda Orchestra in Florence and conducted various photo exhibitions.
