Ms Teuta Grazhdani (PhD)


Teuta Grazhdani has been working with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for 13 years, in various areas of migration governance and in particular on migration and development in Europe and in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

She has assisted the Government of Albania with the development and implementation of three key national policy documents in the domain of migration and development, such as the Strategy on Migration 2005-2010; the Action Plan on Remittances 2007-2010; and the Strategy for Reintegration of Returning Citizens 2010- 2015. More recently, she contributed to the formulation of a national policy on diaspora engagement for development.

Ms. Grazhdani also has a vast experience in training government officials on migration and development issues including in the areas of labour migration, diaspora engagement for local development, and remittances channeling and productive use.

Prior to joining IOM, Ms. Grazhdani worked for a number of civil society based organizations in the areas of migration and education.

Ms. Grazhdani completed her doctoral studies on return migration, reintegration and development in 2015, at the Public University of Tirana, Faculty of Social Sciences, where she has also been lecturing for the past 12 years on Conflict Management and European Union Policies on Migration. She holds a master’s degree in intercultural work and conflict management from the Alice Salomon Fachochschule, “University of Applied Sciences,” in Berlin, Germany and holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the Public University of Tirana, Albania. She has also published several articles in the area of return migration.
